Board Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, June 22, 2017
The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m.
Old Business was discussed. This included Patty Houghtaling updating the board on the continued delay of the carpets from Home Depot. Originally ordered in April, they needed to be reordered and still have not arrived to the local store. They are now due in on the 23rd of this month. The board discussed the possibility of using another carpet supplier, should Home Depot fail to have the carpet on that date.
The board approved a Materials Selection Policy and a Patron Responsibility Policy.
A book purchasing plan was put in place for the library. The tentative figure of $4,000 was suggested to begin restocking the shelves. Becky will primarily use Amazon for ordering and a new, book buying account was agreed upon to be set up for purchases.
The library currently does not charge fines for overdue and lost library materials, but it discussed doing so when the library becomes automated.
The Town of Hounsfield sent a $3,500 check to the library for its continued operation.
As of July 1st, the library’s PO Box will be closed. All mail will now be sent to the mailbox on Old Rome State Road.
Adrienne agreed to look into starting a Friends group for the library for support and fundraising and to begin a new Facebook account.
The library now has a new timesheet system for recording employee hours, effective June 1st. Employee hours are submitted at the end of each month. Currently the library has two part time employees, but it is in need of some substitutes, especially for the summer months.
Basement clean out was discussed to possibly accommodate future programming and neater storage for the library and its tenants.
The meeting ended at 11:15a.m.
